Technology, Health and Development
From AcademicBlogs
Global health problems are well documented and various organizations have been dedicated to this field for most of the 20th century. People in business, engineering, and other fields outside of public health have been using their skills to find solutions to the most daunting challenges. The private sector is testing solutions based on free market principles, while engineers are working to apply technology to problems in resource poor settings. The involvement of disciplines beyond traditional public health has brought new ideas to bear on tackling global health problems. We believe these issues cannot be solved by any one idea or set of experts, and that a group effort is essential.
The Technology, Health and Development (THD) blog was created by students and professionals in epidemiology, health policy and management, engineering, and information technology. We want to bring together public health advocates and business/ technology experts who may not normally interact in order to enhance individual efforts. Our goal is to document and exchange ideas on Innovation and Technology in global health. We want to know what ideas are really working and by spreading the news we aim to connect people. While the blog will be initially more focused on the application of technology to global health because that is our background, we hope readers will also contribute innovative ideas or projects to the blog.
Our main goal is to share ideas and connect people. We hope you will be inspired to make a difference!
