Singing South African-ness

While the character of this blog is in constant flux, I started it as a way of tracking my research on South African choral music and identity formation, in 2004. Since then, the blog has become a travel journal, documenting my graduate study at New York University, and my experiences of music scholarship in the academy. I write about everything from my day-to-day life, to my reflections on technology and music scholarship, with fairly regular references back to my original topic, the obsession that guides all my research, identity in South Africa, and its articulation and negotiation through music.
